Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California
According to California Probate Code PC 8802, out of state real property is always exempt from an inventory and appraisal. The property is in New York. Why does the superior court judge in Shasta County order an inventory and appraisal and my attorney does not want to object? There is no California real property. This matter should be handled in New York. What can be done about this?

Not sure how out of state is exempt from the I&A. Below is PC Sec. 8802:
8802. The inventory and appraisal shall separately list each item and shall state the fair market value of the item at the time of the decedent's death in monetary terms opposite the item.
The I&A must list all know assets of the decedent in order to obtain a value of the estate. The attorney's fee is based on the total gross value of the estate.
