How to change my minor child's last name
How do I legaly change my son's last name to our new married last name? I was not married to his biological father but he carries his last name. His biological father is not in the picture.

to change your sons name legally you must either file a petition to change name with the courts or have your new husband adopt your son legally. a name change simply is that it does not change the birth certificate. An adoption changes the child name on the birth certificate and inserts your husbands name as the natural father of the child. A name change is simpler and cheaper.
