Visit the county recorder's office in the county in which the property is located and look up the title records for the property to see if there has been a deed recorded granting the property to the trustee as trustee. If the county has their grantor/grantee index on line and you know the name of e settlor of the trust or the trustee, you can search that way.

I agree with Mr. McCormick. You check the grantor/ grantee index at the county recorder's office where the property is located to see if a deed was recorded from the owner to either himself or herself as trustee, or someone else as a trustee of a trust. Don't confuse a deed to a trustee with a deed of trust, which is the security device used to secure loans in California.
