Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California
Can I collect compensation from my parents estate for being their caretaker for 4 years? My brother, the executer & my 3 other siblings don't think I should be compensated. I've lived in my parents house since 2004 and they both passed away in 2008. Probate is in process now.

It is a legitimate claim to seek reasonable compensation for caretaking services, particularly if you passed on other opportunities to take on these tasks which left your siblings presumably free to do their own thing. You may not be able to go back to 2004, though. You would have to begin by submitting a timely claim. Lastly, is there any documentation regarding your parents wishes regarding your compensation?
