Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

I'm confused- I thought that after sending the signed receipt for distribution (CA Probate) back to the lawyers that we would get the checks pretty quickly. It's been two weeks and the lawyer has not yet filed them even though they have all been returned. Are we right to be frustrated? In fact, after reading some posted questions/answers, it almost sounds as if we could have picked up the check after returning the signed receipt had we been local, so we are not sure what is going on and it's hard getting info. Thank you.
