Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California
Can I create a living trust in a name that is different from my true name?
For privacy purposes I would like to take my name off of the public real property rolls. Can I create a living trust in a name different from my true name, i.e., The Toledo Family Trust, and then transfer my real property to that trust. Beside having to prove that I truly own the property, what other downsides are there to this?
I have recently been threatened by the husband of someone I represented in a domestic violence case. He has found out where I live by searching property records. After this man is arrested I would like to get my name off of the property rolls.
Thank you

You can call your living trust anything you want. However, the property rolls will still contain the name of the trustee as the transferee. So, in order to remove your name completely, someone else will have to act as trustee. And this can create a problem unless you know someone you can absolutely trust with your assets.

Yes, you can call it something else.
