Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California
Dear Lawguru,
I have a flat in suburban Mumbai, under co-operative housing built around 1971.
I live in USA for past 25 years. Flat is empty except for 15 to 20 days stay every 2 or 3 years. Society has been collecting from me maintenance charge Rs.1,500/- per month for past 25 years that I am not resident in my flat. I suddenly realized that I should not be paying this. I asked society for crediting the amount into my account. Is this action correct? Thanks

You posted your question to California lawyers. We can't answer questions that are governed by Indian law. You need to re-post your question and use the pull-down menus to select India as the country. You should also select the Real Estate category, not Probate, Trusts, Wills and Estates - which is the topic for lawyers who specialize in matters related to property transfers to heirs, not matters of real estate maintenance charges.
