how soon after death does a gift in a trust need to be gifted if the trust say immediately upon death.

it depends on what the document says, but generally, no distribution will be made for at least four months after the Trustee Notices are mailed. If there are complications like creditors or estate taxes (the later unlikely this year) it can take considerably longer.
