Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

Can I deposit check without his signature ? Can I request another check in my name only from title company ?

I have received check from a title insurance company after i responded to a notice of escheat of unclaimed property to the state of california. However the check is pay to the order to both my name and my exboyfriend/roommate of 15 years ago. We had broken up since 1999. How do I remove his name ? We not in speaking terms and he lives in Brookyln, New York. He had never contributed to any mortgage payments to the property.

The State of California is going to have to split the check and pay you your portion. The Comptroller is not going to give you the entire amount unless you have a judgment that says the entire portion is yours.
