Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

determining estate information

My father-in-law recently

passed away. He has had

little to do with my husband

over the years but there was

sporadic contact; no child

support was ever provided.

my FIL has had 5 wives and

2 other children (one

biological and estranged,

one via in vitro and living with

her mother). We can obtain

no information about his

estate from his child or

ex-wife; we have no money

for an attorney. How would

my husband go about

claiming himself as a

survivor to my father-in-law's

estate? We do not have any

idea of his estate's value, but

there was much personal

property my husband would

like to have.

Thank you,

Paula

Re: determining estate information

If he died with his estate having to be processed through his county's probate court, I suggest going there or calling there and asking the same question.
