What is the difference between a car title reading John Doe or Jane doe versus John doe and Jane doe in California?

Assuming such a title can exist, the first means that either one has title s either one could sell the car, but the second means both own it jointly and both would have to approve of any sale. I wonder if any physical object, a opposed to a bank account, can be so titled.

It would be a big mistake to have car title as "or".
