How do I disown my parents so that in the event that I die without a spouse or children they are unable to inherit anything or make decisions regarding medical or funeral issues?

Only if you die intestate (without a will) and without a spouse or children would your paents have a legal claim to your estate. So make a Will and then you get to decide who inherits your Estate. If you own real property or significant assets, then you should consider a Living Trust to avoid Probate. For Health Care decisions, you should make a Health Care Directive to designate someone you want to make decisions for you.

If you want a simple will for free, go to the State Bar webpage at www.calbar.ca.gov. If you use the California Statutory Will, pay very close attention to the instructions.

I would suggest you simply meet with an estate planning attorney to create an effective plan which accomplishes your wishes.
