Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

Dispersment of a will/estate

My aunt died last year, '06. There is an attorney involved (which is a friend of my estranged brother, also an attorney). It has now been a year, and the rest of the family has not received any account of when we will be receiving the funds. The will was not contested and my Aunt did not owe any money. How long should it take for the dispersment. My attorney brother knows what is going on, but he calls us selfish and greedy when we ask. We are now not speaking.

Re: Dispersment of a will/estate

If there is a will that was not contested, there is a probate filing. If there is a probate, there is a public record. Many of these records, called a "docket" can be seen on-line, but if not you go to the courthouse and pull the file.
