Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

Are distribution documents separate documents from the trust instrument or are they included in trust document? I heard someone say that they were looking for the distribution documents and had the trust document in his hand. Doesn't the trust mention the distribution of assets in it? Thank you

You are correct that a trust normally contains distribution provisions. To be valid a trust must have definite beneficiaries and a trust purpose.
