Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

distributution of trust

Hello- I am now the sole beneficiary of my father's trust. My mom was during her lifetime, and upon her death, the trust is to be terminated and distributed to me, free of trust. How long does this usually take? Do I need an attorney to make this happen?

Re: distributution of trust

I believe you should see an attorney, even if it simply confirms what you say is true, and confirms the actions you plan to take.

It is better to be safe and avoid liability, including tax liability.

If I can be of assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

yes, you should consult an attorney to confirm that all assets were held by the trust and ensure that the terms of the trust are followed and any necessary tax returns are filed.
