Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

Estate buyout from non-heir

My grandmother passed on & left no will or trust. Her two children don't want the property but I do. I'm not a direct heir but my father left us to be raised by my grandparents. He didn't sign us over to her, he just left us. I need to know how to acquire the property before my dad tries to sell it. Is it possible?

Re: Estate buyout from non-heir

a probate needs to be filed and then you can buy it from the estate if you are the highest bidder.
