estate death bill question

my father died 6yrs. ago now April 19th 2007 we get a bill for 1060. to pay for cremation which we thought was paid for by a prepaid policy with Neptune Society we have no more paperwork on all this.Are we still liable?

As I understand it, you have never heard anything about it until just now, meaning they never attempted to contact before this point. If this is the case, then barring any written agreement to the contrary, the statute of limitations has most likely passed as to their ability to collect the judgement. If they have been actively trying to collect, or there extenuating circumstances, then it might be a different story.

You really don't want a trust and estate attorney on this. While the liability arose because of your father's death, the legal area that this falls under is really civil law. Most general practice attorneys would be able to handle this better then an estate planner.
