What is the role of a 2nd person in a Estate Trust, should I have a copy of the will too

Do you mean alternate? If so, this person is named as a "backup" person in case the first-nominated trustee/executor is unable to take the job. Having a copy of the document is a good idea, but not necessary. At the least, the nominated trustees/executors should know where to find a copy when the time to act comes.
