Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

estate being withheld

Hello! My uncle and both parents

have been deceased for some time.

Before she passed, my mother told

me was leaving something for each

of us five girls in her Bible, but two of

my sisters refuse to give me any

information about her will or estate. I

feel I am being cheated out of my

inheritances, however small. It would

be lovely to have even a note from

my mother now that she is gone.

What can I do to gain information on

this and receive whatever my uncle

and parents meant for me to have

after their death? Thank you for

helping me.

Re: estate being withheld

Original Wills must be filed w/ Court. Holder required to give a copy to children of deceased, and named beneficiaries.

Not sure if there is probate property per your summary - seems maybe no. If there was, likely they would be rqd' to file in order to transfer the property, and you would be entitled to notice. You could check with the Superior Court where parent survived to see if probate filed .. need more information as to this ..

That being said, if really no property (real estate, accounts, et al) .. memorabilia only, better maybe to try to keep it "friendly" just say you would like a copy of the Will for peace of mind.
