Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

I don't have an executor for my estate. I want to leave my personal effects, bank accounts and IRA accounts to various charities and non-profits. What do I do to ensure that?

Go see an estate planning attorney. Don't try to do it yourself over the internet. You'll just cause problems for everyone down the line.

You have to name an executor for your Will so there is someone to carry out your wishes and follow the legal requirements. You could form a trust instead, to avoid probate, but you must have a trustee named for that. For real property, you could donate the property now with a retained life estate so that you get to use the property while you are still alive. Some charities might even help you with estate planning, but they will of course try to have it done in a way to benefit them.
