Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California
executor of will
My parents are recently deceased, the victims of a murder-suicide. They both had wills that said that all assets go to me. I am the only child. Can any other family member try to claim any part of the estate?

Re: executor of will
I am sorry to hear of your parents passing.
Any one can make a claim on part of your parents estate. Based on the facts presented, their success would be slim.
If you are the executor of the estate, you will have to file the wills with the Superior Court and petition to be appointed personal representative of the estate.
If you would like a free initial consultation, please telephone me. I have over 25 years experience in probate and estate administration.
Good luck and thank you for your inquiry.
Re: executor of will
Instead of worrying if someone will contest something, probate or wind up the estate of your parents quickly. You may or may not need to have a probate. If they were residents of Arizona, call us for a free, no obligation consultation at 480.835.1500. If you are out of state this can be done by telephone. If a claim is filed, we represent estate officers in defending those claims, and handle probates in all Arizona counties. If you parents were residents of California, see an attorney in that state.
Sorry for your loss. I have had other cases like this one, and have one pending now.
Re: executor of will
If the wills are valid, no. Even if the wills are not found to be valid, as an only child (assuming you are the only child of both parents), you would inherit under the intestancy statutes.
Re: executor of will
anyone can claim, but they are not likely to have any success based on what you present.
