Can a family member of a decease sue the decease's wife for half of their proper

i know a couple that was married for a little over a year. then the husband recently past away due to cancer. his wife is also sick and needs to sell off their homes and belongings just so she can afford the treatment she needs for her sickness. also before her husband died he had told his wife to watch out for his brother for he is tricky. and now after his death, the brother wants to sue his sister in law for half of her belongings. so i just want to know if he is able to do such a thing or if he is at all entitled to any of the properties? please help. thankyou

What does his will or trust say? That would govern if he has one. Was there a prenuptial agreement? If he died intestate, the share would depend on whether he had children or living parents. You don't give enough facts to answer the question.
