Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

I had a family member die recently. All of their assets were liquidated prior to their death and held in a family tust (total amount aprox $150,000) They had a will and an estate lawyer that was dealing with estate planning etc. How long should distribution from a trust take?

The terms of the trust would need to be reviewed in order to answer your question.

Call the attorney and the Trustee handling it and ask him/her. The Trust actually will be handled by the Trustee who may or may not discuss matters with the attorney.

In addition to the above, which I agree with, one reason for delay is to give notice and wait the statutory period to see if there are any additional creditors that need to be paid before distributing the trust to the beneficiaries. You should stay in tough with the attorney and keep asking about the status.
