Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

My father died and I asked my stepmom to make sure he makes a will. But he didn't have a will. I want to know what I am entitled too. His name is on the house she lives in, also his name is on all bank accounts and cars. Am I entitled to half of the houses value. They lived in California

She is entitled to his half of the community property, if any. As for separate property, most likely the things his name is on title to, you are entitled to half of it and she is entitled to half. If he had more than one child, the children share 2/3 of the separate property and she takes 1/3.

It will likely take probate to change title to your name, but talk with a probate attorney to know for sure how to proceed.
