Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California
My father is the executor of my grandmothers will. She deceased in 1984. He has transferred everything over in his name except for a small parcel of land in California. He would like to transfer this porperty to me but we do not know where to proceed. He said he got confused as the porperty is in California and there is a prcedure that is specific to California law. Any clarification woul be helpful. Thank you, Kelly

Was your grandmothers will probated in the state where she lived at the time of her death?
Depending on the value of the land, you may need to file a small estate probate in the county where the property is located. You will then need to obtain and order allowing your grandfather, as executor, to transfer the property. Once transfer is complete, probate can be closed.
There may a better method to transfer this property, but I would need to know more facts.
