if my father passed away in alaska and there was no will and I (live in california) am the only next of kin do i have to go threw probate to get his bank account and other property?

You will need to direct this question to a lawyer in Alaska who handles probate matters.

The bank accounts may have a designated beneficiary. In California, accounts with a named beneficiary can be transferred to the beneficiary without probate. Your father's bank will be able to explain the process that applies in your particular case. As to the other property, I am afraid you will need to contact a lawyer in Alaska.
