Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

Father-in-law's Will

My father-in-law left everything to my husband, except for $1 for his daughter and $1 for his other son. He had a coin collection. If we were to have it appraised, could my husband's sister-in-law claim any part of it? This sister-in-law is the wife of the son who was left $1.

Also his home was deeded to myself and my husband 6 years ago. Can she try to claim anything other than the $1 dollar left to her husband? Since the will has been lodged two months ago, does that settle everything?

Re: Father-in-law's Will

whether or not probate is required of this estate depends upon its value and whether or not it contains real property.

Re: Father-in-law's Will

It looks like the sister-in-law is out of luck, and won't receive anything except the dollar, unless she can show the will is invalid in some way. There are only a few ways in which a will can be made invalid, and they require court action.
