Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California
How to fill out temp conservatorship forms?
I am filing for temporary conservatorship (estate and person) and I am not sure how to fill out the forms. I have had durable power of attorney for my Mom since 1998 and she has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Can I do any of the paperwork without legal counsel? I've heard it can cost thousands of dollars, which I do not have.
In filling out form GC-110 - petition for temporary conservator -
1) 1c - about bonds. How do I know if I need one? Do I need one if the only income my Mom has is from social security and pension of about $1600/month or $19,200/year. If so, what would the bond amount be? How do I go about getting a bond? Or can I select 1c(4) about deposits in a blocked account. I am so confused.

Re: How to fill out temp conservatorship forms?
Why are you filing for a conservatorship. You should not need one with a durable general power of attorney. Have an attorney review your documentation and advise you if this is even necessary. Once a conservatorship is established it is an ongoing expense.
