Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

I would like to find out how to get information on my recently deceased mother in California:

-How I can obtain information on all her financial assets-bank accounts, credit, etc..

-All her places of employment.

-If I have to pay tax on money I received, which collectivelly comes to just over 100,000.

One way to find out information would be to open a Probate and become executor of her Estate. As Executor you would have power to get information. Ordinarily, there is no tax on money you inherit, particularly at that amount.
