Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California
How do I find out if my sister left anything to my children or myself? She died of brain cancer last week and her partner has power of attorney. My sister told me a few years back that she was leaving money for my children and myself

I am sorry for your loss.
A power of attorney expires at the time your sister died. Her partner can no longer assert she has power of attorney.
Have you asked her partner if she left a will or trust? If yes, will she provide a copy to you? If not, do you have any idea what your sister's estate looked like or how much it was worth?
You should consult personally with a probate litigation attorney in the county or town where your sister lived. You may have to file a probate petition to gain access to your sister's records and assets.
