Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California
How do I find a will that I am named in?
My grandparents both passed and they always told me that I was named in their will. My mother has control of their assets and is the executor of their will. She will not let me know what is going on or any of the details.
How can I find out what is going on with their will and if I am in fact named in the will and the details?
Thank you

You can check with the probate court to see of probate was ever opened.

Given the facts as you describe them, your mother is required to file your grandparents' Will for Probate in Court and you will be entitled to receive a copy of it. If they had a Trust, you would be entitled to receive a copy of that too once you request it.
You should strongly consider hiring an attorney as soon as possible who can assist in dealing with your mother and her reluctance to disclose information.

Ask you mother, very politely, if you can see the Will and if she says no ask why not. Tell her that you are curious as to whehter they meant it when they said they were going to leave you something. perhaps say that you saw a newspaper article stating that good hearted people who fail to follow the directions in a Will can get into trouble and may have to make payments out of their own pocket. If that does not work, then you will have to seek other methods.
