Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

Finding the will and/or attorney of the deceased

My uncle recently died, but because so many family members were trying to steal his money before he died he became very secretive and now no one knows what to do. He owns a substantial amount of stocks, so we think he made out a will, but know one knows where it is. We also know he had an attorney, but know one knows who it is. What should be done?

go through the bank records and canceled checks. if he had a will done he would have had to pay the attorney.
