Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

Hi I just found out that I was in my grandmothers will as primary benefactor for her estate after my father and if he dies .

My father who was incarcerated at the time ..was her main beneficiary ... . I just found out at same time I was named as owner to a short story purchased previously by Alfred Hitchcock . I suspect my grandmothers sister concealed that I was named prominently in the will so that her children could inherit instead of me and my father (who had a drug problem ) I really need to find out if my father ( in California jail at the time) )) of being given legal right to her estate ... I need to find if he was given his rightful share even if incarcerated . I also just learned he passed away and I must sort out any funding of a will and any paperwork etc . Please help me get started w some direction and answers

Sounds like somebody might have woven a web of intrigue and fraud here. There is no simple answer to your issue. You will need to search and review the Superior Court records in your county or in the county where your grandmother resided to see if a probate was opened. If you're not sure about doing that, you MUST hire a probate attorney willing to do the legwork to find out what happened and file whatever legal actions you'll need to file to get to the bottom of it all, and whether anyone needs to be charged with fraud!
