Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

I have a friend die that was helping me get back on my feet.He loaned me around 2,500 by not charging rent and three more loans around 500. He died this week. I am the one that has been keeping records. The daughter wants the money because she talked with her Dad, my friend about it. The executor also wants it paid to him.What do I do?

It's a debt of the estate, so it should be paid to the executor if he's been appointed by the court as executor.

Make sure he or she has been properly appointed executor by the probate court, then pay the executor.
