Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

my friend and his sister lost their mom. the sister is exceutor of estae. he is a benefiarcy of estate too. she wanted to sell the moms home, my fiend wanted to buy it so he bought her out, he paid mortgage on it for two monthe he tried to refiance but found out when he tried to appraise it ,it was still in the estate name not his. his sister said she forgot it took her two months to get this done . can he legally get that morgate money back?
