Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California
My friend was told that he inherited property in Puerto Rico, from deceased family's estate. He was recently released from prison in California, after 18 years inside. He is unclear where to start, to find out what he needs to follow up with this property inheritance. Both parents are deceased, and he is currently not receiving any communication with only living relative associated with this property. He does not know the property address, or Legal firm handling the property. Can you give me a place to start? Sincerely, Richele Grumley

Obtain your self a probate litigation lawyer who will be able to refer you to a investigator to begin looking for the facts. Question: Since your friend knows so little about the location of the property in PR, does he know where his parents died? That would be the place where to start, to determine if a probate administration of the parents estate was commenced, and be able to examine the court records. That examination should give him facts as to location of the real property and who is handling the estate of his parents, and to determine if he is entitled to any distribution from the estate.
