Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

My friend's 96 year old mom died and her mom's friend/trustee has her jewelry and the will, which she won't show. How does my friend legally get to see the will. At one time the mom supposedly owned a lot of property, which the friend/trustee says is all gone.
