Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

Grandchildren Inheritance

My children's grandfather passed away suddenly 1/18/99 - at the time of his death I am not sure if he had a will or a trust. I do not have contact with his wife who is still alive along with his children. They are a very dysfunctional family and the grandfather told me many years ago he was leaving the grandchildren a majority of his estate and that he had accounts with their names on it - I gave them him their S/S #'s 10 years ago. I called the County offices and no probate or will info is with them. The children even said the grandfather mentioned this many times about the money. How can I get info. on the account that is in the grandfather and children's name and on his very large estate. The kids father has no contact with them or his family and the grandfather did not like his wife and mentioned he didn't want to give her more than he had to.

Re: Grandchildren Inheritance

you could hire a private investigator to do an asset search looking for bank accounts.
