Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

Grandfather died without a will, no estate to speak of. I'm named as successor/co-owner on his bank account card. Do I have any debt obligation regarding those funds (about 6k) or can I use them when the bank closes the account and sends me a check?

If you were a joint tenant on the account, when your grandfather passed, you became the owner of the account and the money. The money is not a part of your grandfather's estate. Therefore, you can keep the money and use it as you wish.
