Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

my grandfather passes away in October of 2010, the family knows that he had one....how would we go about finding it? We've already gone through all of his home and there is no safety security box to any of the banks he was affilliated with....please help

I would file for probate either as special administrator or as if there is no will. I would then continue the search for the will. One possibility would be to contact all lawyers who prepare wills near where your grandfather lived. Unfortunately sometimes people die and their wills can not be found. In that case the laws of intestacy would prevail. Quite often those laws are what the will said anyway so often not a big deal.
