Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California
Grandmother robbed of money by granddaughter and placed in conservatorship.
I just found out that my half-sister forced my grandparents to take a loan of over $180,000.00 from the equity of their paid off house because she wanted the money and is a known drug addict by the courts. My grandfather died, and my grandmother lost her house because she was unable to make the payments. She now has a conservator. My brother and I were listed on the back of the documents as being served, but our names were falsified, they used our first names and my mothers maiden name. We started asking question and then my brother who talks with my half sister occasionally was able to get these papers from her. My questions are as followed. Do we have any legal rights? And if my grandmother has a conservator, who decides what happens to her estate when she dies? She is in a nursing home and to our knowledge she has over $250,000.00 that she received from a malpractice suit. I just received these document that were date in 1996. My sisters daughter was also living in my grandmothers house at the time that all of this was going on and allowed it. My half sister and her daughters have manipulated my grandmother all of their lives. Does my mother, my grandmothers only daughter have any rights? What can I do?

Re: Grandmother robbed of money by granddaughter and placed in conservatorship.
You need to contact a local attorney who specializes in probate immediately. IF you do not you may risk losing all rights you have to your sister. I would recommend that you contact your local bar association for the names of good attorneys who practice probate law. Good luck.
