Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California
My grandmother had a trust. Now that she passed the trustee is not providing me with information regarding an accounting or inventory. I have had to file probate so that things are more "upfront" but the court is requiring an "original" of the will. Is the estate attorney required to provide this to me? Is there a will if there is a trust? How do I get an original to file with the courts so that I can move forward with probate?

You really need to seek counsel. How do you know there is a trust. Have you requested a copy? Is there an estate attorney? Have you requested a copy of the trust from that attorney. Have you asked that attorney if there is a will? How long ago did the death occur? Do you anticipate you may be a beneficiary of your grandmother's Trust? Have you checked title to assets to see if a probate is even desirable? Do you understand the difference in a trust administratin and a probate proceeding?
I would not recomend the starting of a probate as the most effective way to get information. It is one alternative, but you really do not have enough information to make decisions.
