Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California
Greetings!
My grandfather passed away, and it was agreed in his will that me and my sister would receive 15,000 dollars each when he passed away. It was not an inheritance though, because it was a loan payback made by my parents to them years ago. It's also written like this in the will-just to make sure it's out of the inheritance category. The attorney that handles this will is taking his time to get the money out to us, because the family is using a different lawyer to handle the estate...
So, the lawyer that has the money owed to us is holding onto it because he is angry that we are not using his services...
My grandfather passed away in August of 2008. What can we do to get this money? It's REALLY needed in these economic times...I lost my job a year ago and am barely making it. What are our options, and is the lawyer allowed to do this? Are there statutes we can use against him, or anything?
Also, all of this is taking place in Ohio, but I live in the Los Angeles Area.
Thank you so much for your time,
-Tyler Nelson
