Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California
Guardianship in California -- not juvenile
I have a friend in Florida who does Guardianship work -- he goes into recently deceased
or incapacitated people's homes and finds out the value of their estate which he then
turns over to a lawyer. I am trying to find the same info in California, but when I called
the local probate court and asked about Guardianship work -- I've been referred to
juvenile court.
Does California call this work something else?? Or does California have a different system??
If someone could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.
Thank you

The type of work you describe is conservatorships (care of incompetent persons) and decedent estates (probate of deceased person's belongings).

In California guardianships are generally for children or minors. For adults this type of work is referred to as conservatorship. And there are professional conservators.
