Handicapped California resident with SSI receives inheritance from Uncle in Puer

My handicapped son in California receives SSI and Medi-Cal benefits. His Uncle in Puerto Rico recently died and left him a large amount of money. What should he do to receive the inheritance so that his SSI or Medi-Cal benefits are not affected.
