ILife Insurance Beneficiary

My wife recently passed away.

I am the beneficiary of the life insurance. Members of her family are disputing me as beneficiary.

Because she was so sick, it was necessary for her to be treated out of state for the last year of her life. During that time she lived with these family members. I trusted them and allowed them to have financial and medical power of attorney.

Right now the insurance company has stopped the payment of the check.

What can I expect right now.

I am sorry to hear about your loss.

Life insurance companies will usually distribute only to the beneficiary who is named on the policy. It doesn't matter who was caring for her during her illness.

I don't know what kind of claim the family members could be making against this policy.

Please speak with an attorney to have him/her review the policy, and the correspondence from the insurance company with you. You need to understand your legal rights in this situation to be able to protect your interests.
