Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

inheritances

Hi, my uncle passed away this past june, 2002. my aunt is

the executor of the will. I was to inherite $5000.00 and my and aunt is weird and won't answer my calls about the money.

we were told he'd get a check at the end of October. we are ready to become homeless and lose everything and that money could help us very much. how can we get the money? what advice would you give us? we are very very worried.

thanks,

Re: inheritances

If there's a probate filed, you can review the court's file and find the list of assets along with a copy of the will to ensure he's receiving the $5,000. If probate hasn't been filed, or does not need to be, and you're a direct beneficiary of some asset, you can make your claim directly to the holder of the asset (e.g., IRAs, bank accounts, pension accounts, life insurance, etc.).
