Typically a trustee of a trust does not have to seek court approval of a final accounting unless it is a trust that is court supervised or the trustee voluntarily seeks court approval. A beneficiary can petition to compel an accounting of the trust if one has not been provided after the beneficiary demanded one in writing 60 days prior to filing their petition.
