Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

Next of kin, last name is only connection

Lawyer from another country says a man bearing my last name died leaving no next of kin. Because we share the same family name he asked me to sign papers and he will have the money (45%) transferred to me. Is this even legal?

You don't want to be invloved in any type of fraud. You should report this character to the proper authorities. Are you sure it's not a variation on a scam where you sign something and have to pay him a "handling fee" only to receive nothing.

It's a scam. I have heard of other people getting the same garbage.
