next of kin

my half brother died, we have the same mother different father, there is a sister who is his full sister and is my half sister, also two other half brothers. He died without a will. Are we equal heirs or heirs at all??? Do we notify the probate attorney ??

YES. From the facts as I understand them I would say you are an EQUAL beneficiary. I would hire a probate attorney ASAP to protect your interests. Good luck!

You would be an heir with equal standing (assuming he has no spouse, children or parents surviving him). Be sure the probate proceedings show you as an heir and that you are on the "service list" to be notified of all filings/hearings. You may also want to file a "Request for Special Notice" form to receive more notice than is otherwise required.
